Austin Morgan
Austin Morgan was a star when he attended Reno High School as the school’s leading scorer and leading his team to two state championships. He won many awards in the city of Reno and participated in the Wild West Shootout a number of times. After high school, Morgan decided to attend Yale University. His first year, he was named Yale’s Rookie of the year. In the 2011- 2012 year, he finished fifth in the nation in free throw percentage. He made quite an impression at the Wild West Shootout many years ago and continues to do so today.
Luke Babbitt
Luke Babbitt played in the Wild West Shootout in 2006, 2007 and 2008 for Galena High School in Reno, Nevada before attending the University of Nevada, Reno. In his time there, Babbitt broke many records, and his sophomore year led the team in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game. In 2010, he was awarded the WAC Player of the Year award. Babbitt hired an agent in April 2010 and was drafted as the 16th overall pick in the NBA draft. He was originally drafted to the Minnesota Timberwolves but was traded to the Portland Trailblazers, where he still is today.
Olek Czyz
Olek Czyz grew up in Poland and always played basketball. When he was 14 years old, he moved to the United States with his mother and sister and attended Reno High School. In his time there, Czyz and his team won two national championships and he participated in the Wild West Shootout. For his freshman and part of his sophomore year of college, Czyz played for Duke University. He decided to go to the University of Nevada, Reno half way through his sophomore year. His senior year, the team won a Conference Championship. After college, Czyz played for one year for Virtus Roma, an Italian team. He began playing for the Polish Senior National Basketball Team in May 2013.
Armon Johnson
Armon Johnson is a professional basketball player for BC Astana, located in Astana, Kazakhstan. Previously he played with the Portland Trailblazers, the New Jersey Nets and the Orlando Magic. He was drafted in the 2010 NBA draft as a point guard. Before his professional basketball career, Johnson went to the University of Nevada, Reno and played basketball there, as well. Before college, Johnson was a high school student at Hug High School. In the years 2005, 2006 and 2007, he wowed crowds in the annual Wild West Shootout event.
Hunter Myers
Hunter Myers, a recent Douglas High School alum, was not only a basketball standout, but also a leader in academics at his school. He had a 4.5 grade point average when he graduated in the spring of 2013. He made the decision to attend Harvard University next fall. During his time at Douglas High School, Myers participated in the Wild West Shootout and was able to show off his impressive shooting average and basketball talent at the competition. After a hard search, he decided to attend Harvard.
