For Immediate Release:

The 17th Annual Wild West Shootout has been cancelled due to Covid-19

Reno, NV (August 5, 2020) – The 17th annual Wild West Shootout basketball tournament was set to take place at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in December but has been cancelled due to Covid-19 and all NIAA sports schedules being pushed back.  Winter sports are now slated to begin in January, with only 6 weeks of competitive play.

The Wild West Shootout is the sole fundraiser for the Sierra Kids Foundation, a local non-profit organization that raises funds to help families in northern Nevada with a young child with autism.  The families typically helped are un/underinsured, low-income, unemployed or families of low socio-economic status who may not be able to afford an autism treatment program otherwise.  Treatment is costly and not always covered by insurance.

The Wild West Shootout is made possible by generous donations to the Sierra Kids Foundation.  A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help re-coup losses from the cancellation of the tournament.  If you were planning on attending the tournament, or would like to contribute to this cause, an all-day pass to the tournament would have been $25 per person.  Any amount is appreciated to help keep these crucial programs in our community alive.
