Reno, NV (October 18, 2018) – The 15th Annual Wild West Shootout is set for November 29th through December 1st at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. The Wild West Shootout brings together top high school basketball teams from throughout the West. All funds raised by the tournament benefit the UNR Early Childhood Autism Program.
This year’s teams include:
- Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, Reno, NV
- Monterey Trail High School, Elk Grove, CA
- Folsom High School, Folsom, CA
- Douglas High School, Gardnerville, NV
- Birmingham High School, Van Nuys, CA
- Jesuit High School, Sacramento, CA
- Faith Lutheran High School, Las Vegas, NV
- Spanish Springs High School, Spanish Springs, NV
“This is a great family event, celebrating high school basketball players from throughout the area,” said Dr. Tomas Hinojosa, Sierra Kids Foundation president. “But the best part is that it raises money to help children with autism, along with their families.”
Funds raised through the Wild West Shootout basketball tournament help pay for scholarships for families enrolled in the UNR Early Childhood Autism Program, which specializes in early intensive treatment for young children with autism. The program offers a comprehensive, individualized treatment program that emphasizes the child’s development in the areas of language, communication, socialization and personal behavior. With its connection to the University of Nevada, Reno, the program is also a training site for university students involved in the science and practice of treating these children.
The 2018 Wild West Shootout is made possible by Dolan Auto Group and Tamarack Junction, among others.
