The 12th Annual Wild West Shootout is set for December 3-5, 2015 at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. The Wild West Shootout brings together top high school basketball teams from throughout the West.
“The Wild West Shootout has become a great way to showcase some outstanding high school basketball talent in Northern Nevada before their seasons kick off,” said Dr. Tomas Hinojosa, Sierra Kids Foundation President. “And the fact that it’s raising money for such a great cause is a bonus.”
Funds raised through the Wild West Shootout basketball tournament will go toward helping families with an autistic child attending the UNR Early Childhood Autism Program, which specializes in early intensive treatment for young children with autism. The program offers a comprehensive, individualized treatment program that emphasizes the child’s development in the areas of language, communication, socialization and personal behavior. With its connection to UNR, the program is also a training site for university students involved in the science and practice of treating these children.
The 11th Annual Wild West Shootout, which took place December 3-6, 2014 at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, raised nearly $14,000 for the Sierra Kids Foundation, which raises money to help families with an autistic child attending the UNR Early Childhood Autism Program, which specializes in early intensive treatment for young children with autism.
